Lafayette Installs Green Technologies in Parking Garage

The city of Lafayette has installed LED lighting and charging stations for electric cars in its 5th Street parking garage. “The LED lighting and these charging stations are two more environmentally sound steps the city of Lafayette is taking as we continue to lead and model green initiatives,” Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski said. The lighting was paid for by a an Energy Efficiency Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Energy; the city will save about $4,000 a year in reduced energy costs. There was no installation cost for the charging stations, thanks to Duke Energy's Project Plug-IN. Read more here.
