Survey Shows 83 Percent of Hoosiers Support Gun Background Checks

Hoosier political analyst Brian Howey recently published "shocking" results of a survey of Indiana registered voters that shows 83 percent of them support expanded background checks of gun purchasers. Forty-seven percent of the responders said there is a gun in their household. That includes 77.7 percent of Republicans,77.2 percent of independents, and 94.5 percent of Democrats. Why then, according to Howey, did every Republican member of the Indiana congressional delegation bring up Second Amendment infringement up as a reason to oppose background checks, and Sen. Dan Coats to vote against it? Fear of being "primaried" by the NRA, Howey concludes. Read Howey's column here.
