Gregg Outraises Pence in 2016

In the first quarter of 2016, Democrat John Gregg raised nearly $1.9 million, and incumbent Republican governor Mike Pence raised $1.5 million. Pence's total was boosted by a $500,000 contribution from the Republican Governors Association on the last day of the reporting period. Democratic Chair John Zody notes that the last-minute party contribution was clearly a measure of concern about Pence's campaign. He also notes that, without it, Gregg would have outraised the governor two to one. Pence still has access to much more money than Gregg early $12 million to Gregg's $5.6 million), but Gregg already has nearly three times what he had in 2012 when he lost to Pence by only three percent.
