Indiana House District 26 Candidates Debate

The candidates for Indiana House District 26 debated on the Purdue campus last week. WLFI's video coverage is below. You can also read detailed analysis of the debate from J&C columnist Dave Bangert here. As reported by Bangert, Woeste's logic for voting for her rather than her Republican opponent for the seat being vacated by Republican randy Truitt seems very strong:
“It makes no sense whatsoever to send another Republican to the legislature from our district. Here’s why. The reason both of us are standing here tonight is because Randy Truitt is not running for re-election. He’s not running for election because he’s too conservative for our district and not nearly conservative enough for the supermajority House Republican caucus.

“We need to break the seal so we can balance the numbers more . . . and have a seat at the table. The Republicans have not been listening to Randy. They aren’t going to listen to (Siegrist), because she breaks from their platform.”

The next District 26 debate will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Wabash Township Volunteer Fire Department, 2899 Klondike Road in West Lafayette.
