Circuit Court Rules Pence Can't Discriminate Against Syrian Refugees

The day before the vice presidential debate, the 7th Circuit Court ruled unanimously that Gov. Mike Pence had no authority to withhold funding that refugee settment agencies are guaranteed under federal law. Judge Richard Posner wrote: “The governor of Indiana believes, though without evidence, that some of these persons were sent to Syria by ISIS to engage in terrorism and now wish to infiltrate the United States in order to commit terrorist acts here. No evidence of this belief has been presented, however; it is nightmare speculation.” Ouch. The law prevents states that receive resetlement funding from discriminating by national origin (Pence claims it was based on security threats). One of the judges, Judge Diane Sykes, is on Trump's list of possible Supreme Court nominees. Read more from the Huffington Post here.
