Buttigieg to Visit Iowa in the Fall

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will travel to Iowa to headline the Progress Iowa Corn Feed event on September 10, says Brian Howey. Perhaps he is fulfilling a lifelong dream to visit Iowa as the corn crop is maturing. Others suspect different motives. "You don't go to Iowa unless you're thinking about running for president,” says Chris Sautter, a Washington-based Democratic media consultant. Buttigieg will be joined by others who may have aspirations for a 2020 presidential bid, including Senators Jeff Merkley and Amy Klobuchar, as well as 2016 presidential candidates Martin O'Malley and Bernie Sanders.
